S/Sgt. William S. Telfer was born June 22, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the only child of William P. and Rozella Telfer. He entered the Army Air Corps Jan. 26, 1942 and would ultimately become a B-17 ball turret gunner.  Telfer was the only member of the crew who was killed in action during the war.
